Mental Health First Aid

Standard 2 day course

The Mental Health First Aid - Standard 2 day course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis.

The course curriculum is based on mental health guidelines and is accredited by Mental Health First Aid Austrlia (MHFA)

Any interested adult can attend. Please note this course is not therapy or support goup, rather it is an education course to learn how to give mental health first aid to others.

Course fees for this course is $330. Payments terms - Payments for individual participants is upfront unles prior agreements have been made. 

Course Content

The Standard Mental Health First Aid course will teach you how to provide initial support to other adults who may be experiencing a mental health problem or a mental health crisis, until appropriately trained professional help is receieved, or the mental health crisis is resolved, using a practical, evidence based action plan (ALGEE)

This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

Standard MHFA Course

  • Depression

  • Anxiety problems

  • Psychosis

  • Substance use problems

Mental health crises covered:

  • Mental health crisis

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

  • Non-suicidal self-injury

  • Panic attacks

  • Trauma events

  • Severe phsycotic states

  • Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use

  • Aggressive behaviours

       Note: This course is not a therapy or a support group

Assessment

There is no assessment process for this course. however, participants can opt to receieve a Mental Health First Aider Accreditation through Mental Health First Aid Australia (MHFA)

Accreditation

Course participants receive a copy of the standard MHFA manual, information guides and handouts, and a certificate of completion.

There is no assessment process for this course, but participants can opt for Metal Health First Aider Accreditation though MHFA.

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course teaches adults (18 years & over) how to provide intial support to adults who are deleoping a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. Developing mental health problems covered:
